ATTORNEY

Richard M. Perles

Richard M. Perles is licensed to practice in Louisiana and Texas. His practice focuses primarily on litigation, and since 1995 he has represented seismic trade associations and defended seismic contractors in a variety of surface and subsurface trespass, personal injury and environmental damage claims. He also has defended Jones Act personal injury and other maritime claims arising under P&I, CGL, and MEL insurance forms on behalf of the London insurance market, including tug and tow collisions resulting in spillage of oil and/or toxic chemicals, and subsea pipeline damage. He has written extensive analyses of liability under the Oil Pollution Act of 1990 and CERCLA.  After clerking for the United States District Court for the Western District of Louisiana, Mr. Perles began his private practice in Lake Charles, specializing in toxic injury defense in cases involving alleged exposure to asbestos, pesticides, and phosgene gas. He has successfully presented our clients’ positions in nationally reported decisions, such as Musser Davis Land Co. v. Union Pacific Resources.
