M. Kevin Powell

Kevin Powell has been representing major petrochemical and energy companies for nearly twenty years.  He has served as national counsel for a Fortune 500 company in hundreds of cases involving allegations that long-term exposures to chlorinated hydrocarbons resulted in various malignancies. He has been a member a client’s refinery crisis response team to interact with local and federal regulatory agency officials in the event of excessive air or water releases. He served on a trial team defending chemical companies and manufacturing associations against claims of an industry-wide conspiracy to hide the health effects of vinyl chloride monomer, successfully defeating the claims on a national scale.

In addition, Kevin’s litigation experience includes the following types of cases: 

  • Chronic exposure cases involving benzene, vinyl chloride, toluene, “chemical soups”, asbestos, and others.
  • Acute exposure cases involving carbon tetrachloride, SO2, H2S, isobutane, etc.
