John M. Futrell

John M. Futrell is licensed to practice in Mississippi, Louisiana, and Texas. He has practiced for more than two decades after receiving an LL.M in Admiralty from Tulane University Law School in 1982. He has defended underwriters and insureds in Jones Act suits, coverage disputes, and contractual indemnity claims. He has also written coverage opinions on a broad range of policies, including CGL, Hull, P&I, Cargo, Excess, Umbrella, Charterer’s Liability, and Terminal and Marina Operator’s Liability. Mr. Futrell has substantial experience with reinsurance, excess insurance, and nonmarine claims, such as business interruption and commercial general liability claims, and in briefing underwriters’ and assureds’ cases, having won nationally reported decisions, such as Orduna S.A. v. Zen-Noh Grain Corp., Great Lakes Dredge & Dock & Co. v. Tanker ROBERT WATT MILLER, and Arkwright-Boston Manufacturers Mutual Ins. Co. v. Ross
